Triskelion Tessellation Triptych

I mostly wanted to be alliterative. >_>

My three 18"x24" panels side by side; my final project for a Color & Design college course.

Acrylics on mixed media paper; about 30 hours total (roughly 10 hrs per painting, including designing the triskelions, cutting, tracing, and painting).

The assignment was a three-part tessellation design that had to "fit" thematically, somehow. I chose, unlike most of my classmates, to continually use the same two colors: yellow and red. I also did not connect the three paintings into one continuous strip.

My additional theme was "simple to complex."

One of my classmates called it a tribute to China, ha. Another said these might make an interesting pattern for textiles. A skirt or something. Whatcha think?

Some of it was cropped to keep the edges neater, since I'm no professional photographer and I don't own a scanner (let alone one that large).
